Hit-Run Newfield Driver Calls Cops 20 Minutes After Killing Jogger, Cops Say
A 35-year-old jogger was killed in a Gloucester County hit-and-run Sunday morning, Aug. 24 — and the driver was arrested minutes later after calling police and admitting his involvement, authorities said.
Emmanuel Anakwah, 36, of Newfield, was heading south on Madison Avenue near Dalton Avenue in Newfield, when he hit Mckeon C. Mckeon-Fish, who was jogging southbound along the roadway, at 8:10 a.m., Matthew DeCesari said.
Mckeon-Fish of Newfield, was pronounced dead at the scene and Anakwah fled, police said.

Wrong-Way Crash Kills 72-Year-Old Vineland Man, Cops Say
A 72-year-old Vineland man was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday, Aug. 24, police said.
Officers responded at 6:50 a.m. to East Landis Avenue and Main Road for reports of a crash with life-threatening injuries, according to the Vineland Police Department.
Investigators said a red 2016 Toyota Highlander driven by Chao J. Lu, 51, of Vineland, was traveling westbound on East Landis Avenue when it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound beige 2017 Honda CRV driven by Efrain DeLatorre-Valdesp, 72, of Vineland.

Five people were killed and dozens more injured when a tour bus overturned on the Thruway in western New York.
The Genesee County crash happened in the eastbound lanes of I-90 in the town of Pembroke, between exits 48A and 49, at around 12:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, according to New York State Police.

Longtime West New York Police Officer Dies Weeks Before Retirement
David Martinez, who served West New York as a police officer for 25 years, died on Saturday, Aug. 16, the police department announced.
"Officer Martinez faithfully served the West New York community for 25 years with honor, dedication, and compassion," West New York police said.
Martinez died weeks away from his retirement, police said. Sources tell Daily Voice his death was sudden.
