Mailbox Thief Nearly Hits Officer In High-Speed Chase Through Bergen County Town, Police Say
A Westchester, NY man has been arrested for his role in a mailbox theft ring that plagued Bergen County for weeks, authorities said.
Edward Orozco, of Yonkers, was apprehended after a dramatic high-speed chase and a month-long investigation by the Wallington Police Department, Sgt. Brian Rosas said.
The theft ring, which targeted mailboxes in October, resulted in thousands of dollars in losses for residents after stolen checks were rewritten and repeatedly deposited, according to Rosas.

A 32-year-old New York man is facing charges in Paramus, NJ for pretending he was held at knifepoint in one location when, in fact, he was burglarizing another, police said.
Officers were called to the Dunkin parking lot at 492 Route 17 North on Sunday, Sept. 1 where Jonathan Gardner, of Canastota, NY, had told authorities he was being held at knifepoint and suffered a slash to his arm while defending himself from an attacker, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said.

Feds: Serial Burglar Makes Bogus Calls To Divert Police Before Multiple NJ Drug Store Break-Ins
A hapless burglar tried to keep police in a half-dozen Bergen County towns busy with bogus calls of carjackings, kidnappings and other threats to try and buy himself time to break into local drug stores, federal authorities said.
Michael J. Gynegrowski, 34, hit pharmacies in Cresskill, Hackensack, Oradell, River Vale and Teaneck, usually by breaking a window, they said.
Six of a reported 10 attempts failed, but Gynegrowski did swipe a significant amount of Oxy, promethazine and other medications from an Englewood drug store, investigators told Daily Voice.

The incident took place around 4:30 p.m., Sunday, July 31 in Waterbury.

An 82-year-old grandma nearly lost $15,000 to a bail scam artist on Monday, June 13, police say.
Engerbert Perez Jimenez, 26, of Reading, called the Lancaster County woman and pretended to be her son’s lawyer claiming her grandson was in a serious car crash and was in the ICU and needed $8,000, according to the release by the Northern Lancaster County Regional police department.

A sixth, and what police believe is final Connecticut teen has been arrested in connection with the attempted robbery and murder of another teen.
The 16-year-od teen was arrested on Monday, Jan. 25, by Waterbury Police, who says he was involved in the robbery-gone-wrong, that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Taevan Mosher, on Friday, Jan. 22, in Waterbury, said Lieutenant David Silverio.

Police: Queens Man, 23, Tried Using Bogus Credit Card At Flanders Walmart
A Queens, NY man used a a fraudulent credit card when he attempted to pick up and pay for an order at Walmart in Flanders, authorities charged.
Mohammed S. Rahman, 23, visited the Walmart on International Drive S. and tried to pay for a pickup order on Sept. 5, Mount Olive Police said.
Further investigation revealed that Rahman was not authorized to use the card, police said.
He was arrested and charged with credit card fraud, conspiracy to commit credit card fraud, criminal attempt and theft by deception.
Rahman was released pending an appearance in court.
