Man At Large After Stealing Cash From Long Island Minimart, Police Say
Police are searching for a man who used a fake $100 bill to steal from a Long Island convenience store, leaving the counterfeit with the cashier after asking him to break it. The incident reportedly took place in Huntington Station on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 207 Lowndes Ave. at approximately 3 p.m., according to Suffolk County Police. Police are searching for a Connecticut driver who drove away from a Long Island gas pump after a dispute, dragging an attendant behind his vehicle in the process. On Monday, Oct. 19, the unidentified driver pulled up to a Cumberland Farms location on Commack Road in Commack at approximately 6:30 p.m, according to Suffolk County police. Police are attempting to identify a woman who allegedly used a counterfeit $100 bill at an area market, according to state police. The woman purportedly used the counterfeit bill in Ulster County at Tantillo's Farm Market in Gardiner at approximately 3:36 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14. A woman turned herself in to the police after using a counterfeit $100 bill at a Fairfield County store and walking out with authentic change. Officers from the Westport Police Department responded to The Country Store on Wilton Road in the afternoon of Sunday, May 24, where there was a report of a customer that had used a suspected counterfeit $100 bill. An increase in the use of counterfeit money has been reported in Putnam County. Currently, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office is investigating several cases in which counterfeit $100 bills are being used to make smaller purchases at convenience stores, drug stores, and eateries, the department said. Federal Homeland Security agents joined Brick Township police in arresting a local man on weapons and counterfeit money charges. Lawrence Turbett, 71, was arrested at his home in the Conway Towers Housing Complex after detectives learned that a package containing a silencer was being shipped to an address in Brick, local police said.
