A significant water main break is causing major traffic delays on Route 17, police said Monday, June 22. The break that occurred near Franklin Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights has led to substantial congestion on Route 17 and surrounding local roads, according to the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department. Drivers can expect delays on The Boulevard and Terrace Avenue as traffic backs up through the area, police said. Police advised motorists to plan ahead and seek alternate routes while crews work to address the problem. No timeline for repairs was immediately available.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Thursday released another plan to widen I-95 to relieve Fairfield County congestion and issued a plea to lawmakers to adopt new funding sources to pay for it.
