TGI Fridays Closing These 'Underperforming' Northeast Restaurants
TGI Fridays is closing nearly 30 "underperforming" locations across the northeast and will sell eight restaurants to the chain's former CEO, the chain said in a news release.
The 27 closures include restaurants in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. In total, 36 TGI Fridays locations are shutting down nationwide.
The company says about 1,000 employees, which represent more than 80% of those impacted, will be offered transfer opportunities.

A 47-year-old man from Lexington has died after he was struck by a coach bus at Logan International Airport in Boston this week, authorities said.
The incident happened on the Terminal B Lower Roadway around 5 p.m. on Monday, March 27, Massachusetts State Police Spokesperson Dave Procopio reports.
Initial investigation revealed that the man, who was later identified as Vishwachand Kolla, was picking up a friend when he was hit by the middle of the bus while standing outside his vehicle.

Barbara (Booth) Hazard, a former resident of Chappaqua, died on Oct. 25. in Boston, surrounded by family.
Born in 1931 in Fall River, MA, the daughter of Albert L. and Lillian (Holland) Booth, she was raised and educated in New England. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1953 and was briefly employed by Ginn & Company in Boston as a Technical Editor. She married Donald T. Hazard in 1954 and next worked as a Graphic Designer/Artist for a Concord, NH-based advertising firm.
