Fire At Area Home Kills Six Dogs, Fire Department Says
A fast-moving two-alarm fire at a Hudson Valley home killed six dogs who were in the garage area.
The fire started around 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11 in a detached garage on Lewis Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie, said the Arlington Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2393 on Facebook.
At the time of the fire, the temperatures were in the single digits, as firefighters worked to douse the flames in the garage housing multiple dogs, the union said.

Winter Preview: Cold Start To Weekend Will Be Followed By New Storm, Another Drop In Temps
A cold weather pattern has settled in, bringing about a chilly start to the weekend, and a new chance for snow early next week.
After a brief warmup on Veterans Day, a complex, new storm system early in the week will lead to another drop in temperatures.
Skies will remain clear through the weekend, but there is a chance for a wintry mix, and possibly snow, from the latest storm.

Now that the snow squalls have passed, the temperatures will continue to drop.
Bitter cold air will reach lows Thursday morning of 5 degrees to minus-5, said Joe Cioffi, the area's best-known meteorologist.
Wind chills will make it feel like -10 to -20, he said.
