A Newark man was recently sentenced to 70 months in prison for running a multistate car theft and fraud operation that defrauded victims of more than $285,000, authorities said.
Warren Guerrier, 47, had previously pleaded guilty in Newark federal court to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, US Attorney Phillip Sellinger said.

Two people are facing charges after a 3-year-old was left in an idling vehicle that was stolen from a Connecticut gas station parking lot this week, including the child's mother, police said.
Hainef Ramon Baker, 28, of Norwich, allegedly stole a Volkswagon parked outside a Valero gas station in Willimantic on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 4, authorities said. A 19-year-old man from Connecticut is facing numerous charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle in Westchester and leading police on a multi-agency pursuit, authorities said.

A BMW stolen by two masked men from a Connecticut car wash earlier this month was found in New York, police said.
The 2024 BMW X5 was stolen on Monday, Nov. 11, from a car wash on Post Road in Darien around 2:45 p.m., authorities said. The owner told police they were drying the SUV when two men in masks climbed out of an unknown vehicle, hopped into the beamer's driver's seat, and sped away.
