Minivan Careens Through Bus Shelter, Flips Over Route 17 Guardrail Into Woods In Waldwick
A minivan careened through a bus shelter along Route 17, went airborne, then flipped into a wooded area off the highway late Monday night, Oct. 14, incident reporter Boyd A. Loving reports.
The driver of the older model Honda Odyssey was apparently trying to avoid a crash with a different vehicle that suddenly entered her lane on the southbound side, when she went off the roadway, jumped a curbed, went through the bus shelter, crossed over an entrance ramp, flipped over a guardrail, went airborne, and landed on the roof of the car near East Prospect Street in Waldwick, Loving said.

Westchester County is one of the safest communities in the United States, according to a new study.
U.S. News & World Report says it used data such as violent crime rate, public safety capacity, car crash fatalities, emergency services and spending on police and fire protection and healthcare in making the determination.
Westchester wound up ranked fifth nationally.
Communities ranked in the Top 5 are:

2. Rockland County, New York
3. Alexandria, Virginia
4. Arlington County, Virginia
5. Westchester County, New York

Lyndhurst Police Chase Ends In Crash, Arrest
A car thief was captured by Lyndhurst police after crashing a brand-new SUV into a traffic signal during a pre-dawn chase, authorities said Monday.
Fredy Felix, 18, of Passaic started out walking the streets of Lyndhurst around 4:30 a.m., testing door handles for unlocked vehicles, several of which he found, Detective Sgt. Vincent Auteri said.
After taking an assortment of valuables from those cars, the sergeant said, Felix got into an unlocked 2019 Toyota RAV 4 purchased just days earlier -- and found the valet key in the glove compartment.
