Man Pulled Knife On Business Owner In Downtown Absecon, Police Say A man was wanted for an armed robbery in downtown Absecon's business district, authorities said. Officers responded to the robbery on New Jersey Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, the Absecon Police Department said in a news release.  A 911 caller reported that a man pulled out a knife and demanded money from a business owner. The owner got out of the business uninjured and the suspect ran away from the scene. Adult Male Bear Shot, Killed By CT Business Owner In Self-Defense A Connecticut business owner who was cleaning up trash from around a garbage dumpster shot and killed a bear that approached him. The incident occurred in Hartford County early Monday, June 3, in Canton. Paul Copleman, spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, said the bear, an adult male, had gotten into the "unsecured" dumpster. Hong Kong Scammer Defrauds Central Jersey Business Out Of $12.8K Via Text: Police A Central Jersey business owner lost $12,800 in an international scam, authorities said. The unidentified proprietor on Union Avenue in Middlesex Borough reported the theft on July 11, police said. The business told Middlesex police they received a text message from an individual claiming to be from a government agency, "threatening to suspend their business license." The business owner was convinced to wire $12,800 to Hong Kong in order to supposedly rectify the issue, police said. After doing so, they realized it was a scam, police said. No arrests had been made.
