Boston Woman Charged With Killing Fellow UMass Dartmouth Student From NJ In On-Campus Crash: DA
A 22-year-old Boston woman will face charges after she fatally struck 19-year-old University of Massachusetts Dartmouth student Frank Petillo Jr. earlier this year, authorities said.
Danasia Sampson, of Mattapan, MA, was charged last week with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office said. Sampson is also a student at the university.
Petillo, a Manahawkin, NJ, native, was crossing Ring Road with a friend on April 6 near his dorm when police say Sampson crashed into him with her Honda Accord around 5:30 p.m., the Bristol prosecutor said.…
Man, Woman Each Claim $4 Million Prizes In Massachusetts State Lottery
Two people each claimed $4 million Massachusetts Lottery prizes last week.
David Spillane, a trustee representing Wolverine Nominee Trust of Quincy in Norfolk County, accepted a “100X The Money” instant ticket prize, the lottery reported on Monday, Aug. 8.
The trust chose to receive its prize in the form of a one-time payment of $2,600,000, MA Lottery said.
According to the announcement, the winning ticket was purchased at Old Gold Convenience Store, located at 326 Union St. in Franklin.

Covid-19: Over 1,100 New Cases In Worcester County Over Weekend - Local Data
Over the weekend, Worcester County reported more than 1,100 new cases of COVID-19 infections.
Meanwhile, Hampden County's total deaths since the pandemic began reached more than 1,000, and nearly 660 new COVID-19 cases were reported over the weekend - Dec. 19-20 - in the Pioneer Valley.
There were 1,116 new COVID-19 cases reported in Worcester County over the weekend, according to Massachusetts Daily COVID-19 Dashboard.
There were 14 new COVID-19-related deaths in Worcester County over the weekend as well.

Wilton Man Killed In Two-Vehicle Massachusetts Crash
A Connecticut man was killed in a two-vehicle Massachusetts crash.
The crash happened in Bristol County at around 3:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 in Raynham, Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.
Fairfield County resident Mariusz Laszcak, 53, of Wilton, was driving a 2006 Honda motorcycle when he collided with a 2016 International truck, state police said.
Laszcak died at the scene, according to police.
The 32-year-old truck driver, a resident of Baltimore, Maryland, was not injured.
