Fishing Boat Accident Closes Two Mile Bridge The Middle Thorofare Two Mile Bridge was closed due to a boat crash on Saturday, Aug. 31, officials said. Wildwood Crest Mayor Don Cabrera posted a statement around 6:15 a.m. saying the 85-year-old bridge was struck by a fishing vessel. It had not reopened as of 9 a.m. "If you are traveling from the Wildwoods or into Wildwood’s early this morning and plan to use this bridge you may want to take alternate routes," the mayor said. The bridge had been closed earlier this month after the drive shaft broke.

In a Facebook post, the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company said it responded to a marine rescue near Estell Manor Park in Mays Landing at around 5:42 p.m. on Sunday, July 28. Four victims were taken to hospitals with their injuries. Man Dives Off Boat, Injures Neck On Long Island: Police A man was airlifted to a nearby hospital with injuries after he dove off the front of his boat in a Long Island bay. It happened in Wantagh on Sunday, July 7, Nassau County Police said. That day, a 47-year-old man was on his boat in Zach’s Bay. At about 4:20 p.m., he dove off the front of the boat into the shallow water and hit his head, injuring his neck. He was found by the Nassau County Marine Bureau and transported to the Jones Beach Theater, where he was then airlifted to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Additional details have not been released.

The watercraft struck the boat on a portion of the lake near Liffy Island around 7:30 p.m., NJSP Trooper Lawrence Peele told Daily Voice. Both vessels sunk following the crash, and the watercraft operator was taken to Morristown Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Peele said.
