Garfield police pulled a clever sting to capture a Dominican national who they said pulled a knife on a 15-year-old boy and robbed him of a bicycle that the youngster had arranged to sell him through Facebook.
Cristopher Rosario, 18, of Bloomfield, met the boy in the parking lot of the Walmart on Passaic Street, then threatened him with a silver knife before fleeing on the bicycle towards Passaic shortly after 8:30 p.m. last Thursday, June 1, Capt. Mario Pozo said.
The youngster had gone there after Rosario agreed on Facebook Marketplace to buy the bike for $850, the captain said.

NJ Triathlete Struck By Car Sees Community Support
Mary Truer was out riding her bicycle when she was hit by a car. Now people in Essex County are coming together to assist her and her family.
Truer, a triathlete, will need surgery, said her friend Jonathan Tabuzo, a Bloomfield native, who organized a GoFundMe fundraiser. The money will help Truer and her family during this ordeal, Tabuzo said.
As of Monday, May 15, more than $5,700 has been raised.

Ex-Con Caught With Loaded Gun, Large Mag, Pot For Sale At Gwb-area Hotel: Police
An ex-con was caught with a loaded gun, a large-capacity ammunition magazine and a considerable amount of pot for sale at a hotel near the George Washington Bridge, authorities said.
Jairo Padin, 42, of Bloomfield was also carrying nearly $3,000 in suspected drug profits when he was taken into custody at the Best Western on westbound Route 4, Fort Lee Police Capt. Edward Young said.
