Man Charged With Mailing Letters With White Powder To Federal Offices In NY, CT
An area man has been arrested for mailing letters with white powder along with a note implying the substance was Anthrax to federal offices in New York and Connecticut. Jason Pantone, 34, of Hyde Park, was arrested Wednesday, Feb. 27, and appeared in court in Albany on Thursday on charges of conveying false information and hoax, said the U.S. Attorney Grant Jaquith. Pantone is accused of using the U.S. mail to send envelopes containing white power to locations in New York and Connecticut. The identity has been released for the suspect who was apprehended following the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old Binghamton University student from Westchester. Joao Souza of Rye Brook was stabbed to death at a residential hall late Sunday night and the suspect, was at large until he was apprehended Monday. ID Released For Woman Found Dead In Hudson Valley Stream
The identity has been released of a 36-year-old woman who was found dead in a stream in the Hudson Valley. State Police responded to a 911 call for a body found in a tributary to the Wappinger Creek, accessible from Maloney Road in the Town of Wappinger, on Feb. 27, 2018. The deceased has been identified as Ashanti Moore of Brooklyn. An investigation has revealed that Moore had traveled through or stayed in the areas of the Hudson Valley, Binghamton, Buffalo, and Pennsylvania from August to September 2017, prior to her death, state police said. State Thruway officials have restricted travel on major roadways throughout the area during the nor'easter.
