Suspect Apprehended After Striking Girl With Vehicle, Fleeing Scene: Newark PD A 51-year-old Newark man was apprehended after he struck a girl with his vehicle and fled the scene on Tuesday, April 1, authorities said. At 7:36 a.m., officers responded to Irvine Turner Boulevard and Spruce Street after a 9-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is in stable but critical condition, Miranda said. Sawab Williams, did not remain at the scene and is charged with assault by auto and endangering an injured victim in striking a pedestrian, Miranda said.

Man Shot During Robbery Near Auto Zone Parking Lot In Worcester A 41-year-old man was shot and robbed in the parking lot of an Auto Zone in Worcester on Wednesday afternoon, July 26, authorities said.  Worcester police responded to the Park Avenue store just before 5 p.m. and found the man bleeding from a bullet wound. Brick PD: Auto Theft Suspects From Atlantic City, Newark Nabbed A pair of suspected car thieves were arrested at a Brick Plaza Auto Zone, authorities said.  The suspects, pulled over in a stolen BMW and stolen Jeep Cherokee, also were charged with multiple drug and weapon violations, Brick Township police said.  Arrested were Romario Sharrier, 25, of Newark and Oscar Euceda, 18, of Atlantic City, police said. SUV Crashes Through Front Of Hackensack Auto Zone, Damages Three Aisles A 52-year-old motorist told police she hit the gas instead of the brake and crashed her SUV through the front and into an Auto Zone store in Hackensack, authorities said. The 2004 Volvo damaged the Old River Street storefront as well as aisles 1, 2 and 3, just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, Capt. Nicole Foley said.
