The 31-year-old spent her youth at her grandmother's side, poring over art books and especially admiring the works of Georgia O'Keeffe. She brought that passion to her classroom at Saxe Middle School in New Canaan, where she hoped to inspire students in the same way. Tragically, the Stratford woman died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 11. Her mother, Louise Iwanski, did not disclose the cause of her daughter's death. Albany County resident Walter Lipka, of Cohoes, died Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the age of 86 at Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston. His death followed a two-month battle with sepsis, according to his obituary. A native of Cohoes, Lipka served in the US Army as a military police officer in the early 1960s. He later received his bachelor’s degree in art education from Suny New Paltz and a master’s degree in Studio Art from UAlbany.
