Violent Fugitive From Bergen County Captured
A violent fugitive being sought by state authorities forced some schools in northwest Bergen County to shelter in place during a manhunt that ended in his capture early Tuesday, authorities said. Ex-con Justinian Rocco, 26, of Allendale was seized by Waldwick police shortly after 7:30 a.m. Jan. 3 after colleagues from Saddle River, Midland Park and Wyckoff -- along with a K-9 unit -- converged on the area to assist, they said. Two Kids, Adults Fall Through Ice At Skating Pond In Allendale
Two child skaters who fell through the ice and two adults who went in to rescue them at the Celery Farm in Allendale checked out OK afterward, authorities said. Fortunately, the skating pond isn't too deep in that area, Allendale Police Chief Michael Dillon said. Convicted Multi-State Date Rapist From Bergen Completes NY Term, Brought Back For NJ Sentencing
A Bergen County man convicted of sexually assaulting women in two different states has completed his prison term in New York and can now be sentenced in New Jersey. Blake Tannen, 32, was arrested after Allendale police traced an abandoned 911 cellphone call to his home on Baldwin Road in November 2015. They said they stopped Tannen's car as he tried to pull away and found a woman in the front passenger seat who'd been sexually assaulted.
