Summit's Sean Baker Nominated For Best Director For 'Anora'
The Garden State will be well represented at the 97th annual Academy Awards with natives Sean Baker, Zoe Saldaña, Sebastian Stan and Jesse Eisenberg all receiving nominations on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Sean Baker, who was born in Summit, was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Original Screenplay for "Anora," about a Russian stripper who impulsively marries the son of a Russian oligarch, only for his family to try and get the marriage annulled.

Hudson Valley Resident Co-Produced Oscar Favorite For Picture Of Year
With the Oscars airing this weekend few people have focused on part-time Hudson Valley resident and Vassar alumnus Jon Read who co-produced this year's favorite film.
Read, who doesn't divulge where he lives in the Hudson Valley, was the co-producer and production supervisor of "Everything Everywhere All at Once," according to Laurent Rejto, of the Hudson Valley Film Commission.
The film has been nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and many others.

Weston's Christopher Plummer, Westport Native Justin Paul Score Oscar Noms
WESTON, Conn. -- Weston resident Christopher Plummer was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor on Tuesday, while Westport native Justin Paul was nominated for Best Original Song.
Plummer was nominated for his role as J. Paul Getty in "All the Money in the World." The role had previously been played by Kevin Spacey, but when sexual misconduct allegations against Spacey surfaced in the fall, director Ridley Scott re-shot his scenes with Plummer. Plummer, 88, was nominated for a Golden Globe for the role, but lost to Sam Rockwell.
