Wildfire Burns 2,100 Acres Of NJ's Wharton State Forest A wildfire consumed more than 2,100 acres of Wharton State Forest in South Jersey from Sunday, June 19 into Monday. Fueled by dry and breezy conditions, approximately 20 percent of the blaze had been contained as of midnight. The fire consumed parts of the park spanning Washington, Shamong, Hammonton and Mullica Townships. Know Anything? Massive Load Of Concrete Debris Dumped Near Rt. 206 In Sussex County, Police Say Police are seeking the public’s help tracking down the person who dumped a massive load of concrete debris near Route 206 in Sussex County. The load was dumped on the shoulder of Brighton Road near Route 206 in Andover Township, local police said in a Sunday afternoon release. The load appears to consist of “old portions of a wall or facade with a distinct stamped pattern,” police said. Click here to view additional photos. DWI PA Man Found With Hollow-Point Bullets At Route 206 Gas Station: Police A PA man was intoxicated when he was found with a box of hollow-point bullets at a gas station on Route 206, police said. Police responding to a report of an erratic driver on Route 206 found Ronald E. Whitaker slumped over the steering wheel at the Shell gas station in Stanhope on Oct. 30, Byram Township police said in a Wednesday release. Whitaker, of New Milford, PA, was awoken by officers who felt that he was intoxicated. Whitaker subsequently failed a series of field sobriety tests, authorities said. Police: Assault By Auto, Child Abuse Charges For DWI Sussex County Man In Rt. 206 Head-On Crash A Sussex County man was under the influence during a head-on crash that injured both drivers and a young child on Rt. 206, authorities said. Kyle D. Smith, of Newton, crashed head-on into another car on Route 206 near Whitehall Hill Road on Feb. 12, Byram Township Police said. Responding officers observed the odor of marijuana and determined that Smith had been under the influence during the crash, which hospitalized both drivers and a young child in Smith’s car, police said.
