Northampton County Man Dies From Traumatic Brain Injuries Suffered In 1980s Bike Crash A cyclist who was struck by a car in the 1980s died from traumatic brain injury complications Thursday morning, authorities said. Leath Hixon, Jr. of Nazareth was pronounced dead at the Lehigh Valley Hospice Inpatient Unit in Allentown just before 6:40 a.m. He was 71. Hixon suffered traumatic brain injuries after being struck by a car while riding a bicycle on Northampton Street in Easton in 1986, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said. Hixon’s manner of death was determined to be accidental.

Nazareth Police Vehicle Catches Fire A Nazareth police patrol vehicle went up in flames Friday. Vigilance Hose firefighters responded to the scene behind the department where they found Chief Jerry Johnson using a fire extinguisher around 1 p.m., the fire department said. Engine 5012 responded with a crew of 5 firefighters who used a hand line, cooled down the vehicle and protected exposures. Station 50 crews were assisted by Upper Nazareth Station 54 (5412) and Nazareth Ambulance, fire crews said. No injuries were reported and the cause was under investigation.

Officers responding to a report to a shooting found Naseer Gray with a gunshot wound to his chest near the 100 block of S Cedar Street in Nazareth on Saturday around 7 p.m., borough police said. Gray was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment, police said.
