Man Shot After Breaking Into Reading Home, Attacking Residents: Authorities A trespasser who forced his way inside a Reading home Thursday night, March 7, is now recovering from a gunshot wound, according to city police.  Timothy Harris, 37, went inside a house on the 100 block of South 5th Street, an RPD spokesperson told Daily Voice.  When confronted by residents, police said Harris attacked two of them before he was shot in the leg. Minor Caught With Gun After Chase Through Reading, Authorities Say A "juvenile" faces weapons charges after leading police on a chase through Reading on Wednesday, Feb. 27, according to authorities.  RPD said they pursued a car that fled from a traffic stop on the 400 block of North 3rd Street. Eventually, the driver bailed and fled on foot, the department said.  When officers chased him down, he had a firearm with a Glock auto sear (or "switch") and an extended magazine in his possession, police said.  VICE Criminal Investigators assisted patrol officers with the arrest, RPD added.

Reading Student Hit By Car Near High School, Police Say A 14-year-old student was hit by a car while walking to Reading High School on Thursday morning, Sept. 28, police told Daily Voice.  The student, a girl, was crossing the street at the same time a car was turning, RPD said.  Her injuries were non-life-threatening and she was treated at a nearby hospital, police added.  The driver stayed on-scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Reading Driver Shot Dead In Car, Suspect On The Run: Police Authorities in the city of Reading are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a man in his car in broad daylight on Friday, July 21.  Ellis Garman Sr., 44, was found in his car on South 6th Street with a gunshot wound around 2:30 p.m., police said in a release. He was taken to Reading Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds, they added.  Now, authorities have named the suspect as 32-year-old Vincent Sanchez. Sanchez is wanted on an arrest warrant and anyone with information is asked to call RPD at 610-655-6116.

Reading Carjackers Fired Gun During Police Chase, Cops Say Two suspects are still at large after an armed carjacking in Reading late on Monday, June 5, say authorities.  City police were alerted to a car theft by four men around 10:15 p.m., they said in a release. A few hours later, around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, officers found the stolen car with all four suspects inside, the department said.  Authorities tried to pull the car over and a brief chase ensued before the suspects ran from the vehicle on foot, per the release. Reading Man Shot During Street Fight, Cops Say A fight on a Reading street ended with gunfire late Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.  It happened on the 300 block of South 8th Street at around 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 22, the department wrote in a release.
