Wheelchair-Bound Man Struck In Hit-Run Crash, Police In ChesCo Say Police in Chester County are investigating after a wheelchair-bound man was struck by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday afternoon. The victim was traveling east on the edge of River Road when a passing car struck his wheelchair from behind with its right bumper around 5:15 p.m., according to North Coventry police. The man was ejected from the wheelchair and rushed to Pottstown Hospital with head and neck pain, police said. The driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette was seen traveling west on Route 422 at a "high rate of speed," around 2 a.m., North Coventry police said. As the car crossed over the South Hanover Street overpass, the driver lost control while making a slight left curve in the roadway, police said. Baton-Wielding Driver Arrested In Route 100 Road Rage Incident, Police Say A Montgomery County man fled the scene of a Chester County crash last month after he struck a driver's car and beat him with a baton, authorities said. When the victim signaled Robert Sammaritano, 58, of Gilbertsville, to pull over on Route 100 south near Temple Road, Sammaritano whipped out a baton, and struck the driver on March 23, North Coventry police said. The man was able to disarm Sammaritano before an off-duty fireman stopped to control the situation, police said. 1 Dead, 1 Injured In North Coventry Crash One person died and another was injured in a North Coventry Crash Friday morning. One car was facing east against the north side guide rail of West Schuylkill Road and the other facing north across both lanes around 11:50 a.m., North Coventry police said. The driver of the car on the north side guide rail was unresposive and extricated by police and EMS, while the other was evaluated by EMS for head, chest and knee pain, authorities said. Meanwhile, the unresponsive driver was taken to Pottstown Hospital Tower Health and later pronounced dead. An investigation was ongoing.

Officers responded to the eastbound side of the highway near mile marker 171.6 around 7:45 p.m. on March 22, where a white Chevrolet Equinox had hit a guide-rail head on, North Coventry police said. Sandy Zazueta, 35, of Pottstown, was the sole occupant and driver of the car, police said. Zazueta was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities sayd.
