Police responded to a home in the 900 block of Jackson Street after Chanel Norris reported that her daughter had been burned and needed an ambulance, around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2020, WFMZ reports citing Allentown police.

When authorities arrived they reportedly found the 2-year-old girl “screaming in pain” with skin falling off her feet, the outlet says citing a criminal complaint.

The girl was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment for second-degree burns to her feet, genitals, and buttocks consistent with what they deemed “forcible immersion burns,” according to court records obtained by the news outlet.

Norris allegedly admitted after a polygraph exam that she left her daughter unattended in the bathtub with the water running for as long as 10 minutes, the outlet says.

She also admitted to allegedly pulling the girl by her arm down into the bathtub for about three minutes, forcing her to squat in the hot water, the outlet reports citing police.

Norris was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault and one misdemeanor count of child endangerment.

She was arraigned Wednesday afternoon by District Judge Patricia Engler who set bail at 10 percent of $20,000.

Norris failed to post bail and was sent to Lehigh County Jail where she awaits a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 14.
