A US Navy veteran is dead after veering off Route 209 and striking a guardrail on Sunday, Aug. 13, officials say. The crash happened near the intersection with Tuscarora Mountain Drive in Schuylkill Township, Schuylkill County, around 9:30 a.m., said Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio. Brian P. Sipes, 81, of the 1700 block of Pelham Drive in Springettsbury Township, died at WellSpan York Hospital on Sunday, Sept. 11, exactly 25 days after he was involved in a two-vehicle accident, according to the York County Coroner’s Office. Suicide was suspected in the death of a man found in a park in the Philadelphia suburbs just before Father's Day weekend, authorities said. The grueling discovery was made around 7:45 a.m. Friday, June 17, when a resident walking along a trail in Whitpain Township's Wentz Run Park noticed a man, later identified as Donte Jones, leaning against a piece of playground equipment, local police said. Beloved Lehigh Valley native, Air Force veteran, friend, and union brother Jacob S. “Jake” Krause died unexpectedly on Friday, May 20 at the age of 28.
