Parks In Dauphin County Remain Closed As Flooding From Ida Continues
Two parks in Dauphin County are expected to remain closed after serious flooding following Hurricane Ida. McNaughton and Schiavoni parks will be closed at least through, "sometime next week," according to Swatara Township Police. McNaughton Park was in the direct flood path of Swatara Creek and has taken on significant amounts of water. Multiple creeks throughout central Pennsylvania overflowed causing roads to temporarily close. The Swatara Creek was already four feet over its normal level, which contributed to one person drowning last weekend, as Daily Voice previously reported. Officials Identify Man, 58, Who Drowned In Swatara Creek
A fallen tree in a local creek has led to the death of a Harrisburg area man, according to officials. The man who drowned in Swatara Creek on Saturday has been identified as Stephen "Steve" Matrese Sr., 58, of Marysville and Harrisburg. The drowning happened while crews we're attempting to rescue him, among others on Saturday around 12:30 p.m. and he was found dead on Sunday around 1 p.m., as Daily Voice previously reported. Man, 58, Drowns In Swatara Creek
The 58-year-old man who went missing after a rafting incident on Saturday was found dead on Sunday, according to local officials. Police were called for water rescues along Swatara Creek at Fiddlers Elbow Road overpass on Saturday around 12:30 p.m. Multiple people were stuck and/or capsized in small water crafts, kayaks and tubes in the area where a tree had fallen into the river.
