Nora Sanchez, 65, of the 300 block of East Main Street in New Holland was found dead in her home on Sept. 1 around 10 a.m., as Daily Voice reported at the time.  Police were originally called to the scene for a welfare check. Woman Found Dead In New Holland Home Prompts Homicide Investigation A homicide investigation has been launched after a woman was discovered dead in her New Holland home on Wednesday.  Police were called to a home in the 300 block of East Main Street shortly before 10 a.m. on a report of a welfare check, according to Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office and the New Holland Borough Police Department. Officers discovered 65-year-old Nora Sanchez dead inside the home, authorities said. Tribute: New Holland Police Officer, Volunteer Firefighter Wendell Metzler Dies Of Cancer, 52 New Holland Borough police department is mourning the death of Officer Wendell Metzler, who died of cancer.  He was 52 years old. Serving on the force for 20 years -- 25 part time for West Earl police -- Metzler lived a life full of service to his community.  He previously worked for Ephrata Township police for seven and a half years, and spent 22 working as a volunteer firefighter with West Earl and Upper Leacock Fire Companies.  Metzler was a certified emergency medical technician for 34 years, serving Leola Ambulance and Ephrata Community Hospital Advanced Life Support Unit.
