Airborne Tire Kills Driver On I-95 In Philadelphia: Report A driver was killed when a tire from a pickup truck blew out on I-95 in Philadelphia early Friday, and smashed into his windshield, 6abc reports. The airborne tire came off a southbound pickup truck around 12:30 a.m. between Front and Broad Streets, the outlet says. The crash occurred in the southbound lanes near Broad Street around 12:40 a.m. Monday, March 21, PSP said. Police were trying to get the man, who was walking on the highway, into their patrol car when they were struck, NBC10 reports. All three were thrown into the northbound lanes. Authorities were expected to release more information during a press conference at 11 a.m.
