Suspect In Fatal Shooting Turns Himself Into Lancaster City Police

A Friday night shooting that left one man injured has turned fatal and another man has turned himself into police after a warrant was issued.

Lancaster City police responded to a call of a shooting in the 600 block of Hebrank Street on Friday around 10:15 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found one man with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

He was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

He was identified by police as Jomar Almestica, 26, of York.

Almestica was a class of 2013 graduate of Glen Mills School where he was a Division 1 athlete with a 5.23 minute mile, according to MileSplitPA.

He was proud of his Puerto Rican heritage and aspiring rapper known as "J-Easy LP" with a large extended family that is grieving their loss on social media.

He is survived by his young son.

Detectives investigating the shooting were informed by witnesses that there had been a party at a residence in the 600 block of Hebrank Street where two men were seen having a fight.

During the argument, the suspect pointed a handgun and fired multiple gunshots at Almestica, striking him in the torso, arms and legs.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Steffen Vadoria Tidwell Jr., 27, of the 600 block of South Queen Street, in Lancaster.

The same day a warrant was issued for his arrest, Tidwell turned himself into authorities.

He has been charged with the following:

  • F1 Criminal Homicide (1 Count)
  • Summary Discharging Of Firearms
