Doctor Killed In Philadelphia Crash
The bicyclist who died in a crash on Wednesday, July 17, was a doctor at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, according to police and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia website. Barbara Ann Friedes, 30, was struck from behind by a 2018 Volkswagen on the 1800 block of Spruce Street around 7 p.m., Philadelphia police wrote in a release. The Volkswagen then hit three parked cars before coming to a rest, police continued. The city Streets Department employee who was shot in South Philadelphia early on Thursday, Sept. 7 has died from his injuries, police told Daily Voice. The victim, now identified as 21-year-old Masir Williams, was shot in the lower back and left forearm on the 2300 block of Oakford Street, Daily Voice previously reported. A Philadelphia police officer has a broken ankle after being hit by a car while breaking up a street racing event early Sunday morning, the department told Daily Voice. It happened on the 1300 block of North Broad Street around 1:45 a.m. on July 23, authorities said. Some 500 "people and vehicles" were gathered on the road when officers arrived to disperse the crowd, according to investigators.
