Harrisburg Native Melvin Kling, Decorated WWII Vet, Attended Hundreds Of Penn State Games Melvin E. Kling, formerly of Pennsauken, New Jersey and the Harrisburg area in Pennsylvania, died on Christmas, a month shy of his 100th birthday, according to an obituary by the Alloway Funeral Home. He was a highly-decorated veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in Europe as well as the Korean War, where he was a commanding officer of a 101st Airborne company. He was a huge fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions. Mel had estimated he traveled to 200 to 300 Penn State football games, both home and away, his obituary said. VA Man Kidnaps, Assaults Woman In Central Pennsylvania, Police Say  A Virginia Man has been taken into police custody shortly after kidnapping and assaulting a woman in central Pennsylvania on Friday, March 3, police say. The woman who 36-year-old Charles Wilson held hostage is safe now, according to both Pennsylvania state police and Swatara Township police. Wilson and the victim are from Roanoke, according to the police. Why they were in the Harrisburg area is unclear.
