A 25-year-old woman who is the man's girlfriend and child's mother was shot in the head on Monday around 11:50 a.m., according to Lower Paxton Township police.
The woman was taken to a local hospital where she is in stable condition.
The hostages he has taken are the girlfriend's mother-- who lives in the apartment the man is barricaded in-- and his child.
Communication has been established with the suspect.
The situation started as a domestic violence dispute.
Lower Paxton Police Department and several neighboring agencies have remained on scene since noon yesterday and continue to work toward a peaceful surrender.
Residents of Pennswood who have been displaced due to the ongoing situation with the barricaded gunman are asked to seek temporary shelter at the Friendship Senior Center at 5000 Commons Drive (part of the Friendship YMCA building), per the assistance of the Red Cross and at the request of police.
