Three-year-old Kayden Barnes has died after shooting herself in the face this weekend, police in Philadelphia said. The incident happened on the 500 block of East Chelten Avenue in the city's 14th District around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, April 6, according to police. She was transported by private vehicle to Albert Einstein Medical Center and was airlifted to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. Police told Daily Voice she died from her injuries on Monday, April 8. A weapon was recovered, and a male was taken into custody for questioning.

A 4-year-old girl was hospitalized with a gunshot wound in Philadelphia on Thursday evening, March 28, city police say. Authorities said it happened just after 7 p.m. on the 2400 block of 79th Avenue. The victim was struck once in the abdomen in a bathroom at a residence, police said.
