New Details About Infant Found Dead On Pennsylvania Street: Coroner

New information about an infant "suspiciously" found dead on a Pennsylvania street has been shared with Daily Voice by Fulton County Coroner Berley L. Souders on March 20.

The infant was found unresponsive at the intersection of Lincoln Way West/PA Route 16 and South Second Street in McConnellsburg at 8:45 a.m. on March 11, State Trooper Jacob Rhymestine detailed in the initial release. 

The coroner's office was soon called and the infant was pronounced dead at the intersection at 8:55 a.m. on Monday.

After no witnesses have come forward so details about the infant were released. 

The infant was a white baby boy with brown hair and blue eyes. He was 17 inches long and weighed just four pounds. He was believed to have been born "less than 24 hours prior to discovery and estimated to be 36-37 weeks gestational age," Souders stated in the release. 

An autopsy was performed at Forensic DX, in Windber on March 11, but the cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

The Pennsylvania State Police is asking "anyone who traveled through that specific location on the morning of or night prior to the incident that has an in-car camera to review the footage in an attempt to observe anything relative to this case," as stated in the coroner's release. 

The cause and circumstances surrounding the death are unknown so a police investigation is ongoing. The situation is considered "suspicious" and the police encourage anyone with information to come forward. 

The case has been entered into NamUS.gov. No clothing was listed in the case file.

The Fulton County Coroner’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police McConnellsburg continue to investigate this case.
