Bucks Firefighter George Sottung Passes Away
Longtime Bucks County volunteer firefighter and trustee George Sottung has died, his colleagues announced on Facebook Monday, April 10. Sottung was an active life member and insurance trustee for the Croydon Fire Company, officials said. He was also previously a Captain with the company. "This is a very difficult time for our members and his family," wrote Croydon's Station 11 staff. "We ask that everyone keep us in your prayers as we process this loss." PA Firefighter Who Died In Line Of Duty Was Beloved Hockey Coach With Big Plans
A Pennsylvania volunteer firefighter died in the line of duty Sunday night. Sean W. DeMuynck was found unresponsive on the third floor of the Rosedale Avenue home in Wynnewood, Montgomery County. DeMuynck was rushed to Lankenau Medical Center at 11:30 p.m., where he was pronounced dead at 12:22 a.m. DeMuynck previously worked as a video coach for the Canada-based Windsor Spitfires hockey team from 2013 to 2017, and won a championship with the team in 2017, the organization said. The community in Bucks County is rallying for a beloved volunteer firefighter battling cancer for the fifth time. John Scheetz -- a current trustee, former president and life member of the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company -- was diagnosed with cancer three years ago. Since then, he's underwent countless surgeries in treatments. Next month, he's going to have his bladder and prostate removed.
