A North Philadelphia man faces assault and reckless endangerment charges after police said he accidentally shot his girlfriend's daughter. Authorities said Derrick Marshall's gun accidentally discharged in the parking lot of the 3137 N. Broad St. McDonald's, striking the 9-year-old girl in the calf on Wednesday evening, April 10. Three-year-old Kayden Barnes has died after shooting herself in the face this weekend, police in Philadelphia said. The incident happened on the 500 block of East Chelten Avenue in the city's 14th District around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, April 6, according to police. She was transported by private vehicle to Albert Einstein Medical Center and was airlifted to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. Police told Daily Voice she died from her injuries on Monday, April 8. A weapon was recovered, and a male was taken into custody for questioning.
