Some 250 Philadelphia commuters were left stranded on a "dead" track in West Philadelphia Thursday morning, Feb. 22, transit authorities confirmed to Daily Voice. It happened during the morning rush hour around 7:30 a.m., SEPTA said. "Amtrak mistakenly routed a Center City-bound SEPTA Regional Rail train to a dead track that was not receiving power," a spokesperson wrote. SEPTA Train Strike Kills Man After Fight Flings Him Onto Tracks
A man was fatally struck by a SEPTA train following a fight in University City on Thursday afternoon, Philadelphia Police told Daily Voice. The "unusual incident" began with a fight between two men at 34th and Market Street down to the eastbound platform of the 34th Street subway station, Officer Tanya Little said. As a result of the fight, a "white man" fell onto the tracks and was hit by a SEPTA train at 4:36 p.m. on Jan. 4, Little explained. Woman, 21, Charged In SEPTA Driver's Deadly Shooting
The woman accused of killing a SEPTA bus driver on his route Thursday morning, Oct. 26 now faces murder charges, according to authorities. Twenty-one-year-old Zhontay Capers was arrested by plainclothes SEPTA police officers less than a mile from the scene of the shooting, officials said. No weapon was recovered from her person. Authorities said Route 23 driver Bernard Gribbin was shot in the torso and throat around 10:30 a.m. near Germantown and East Abottsford avenues. A SEPTA driver was shot and killed on their route Thursday morning, Oct. 26, and authorities believe they have the shooter in custody, transit authorities told Daily Voice.
