A Hamilton Township police detective did nothing wrong when he tried to stop a scooter rider from Trenton who was killed moments later in a crash, a state grand jury has found. Francis De La Cruz Abad, 21, was operating a Yamaha scooter near the intersection of Route 33 and Whitehorse-Mercerville Road when Detective Brian Davis, driving an unmarked vehicle, tried to stop him shortly after 9 p.m. May 25, 2021. Philadelphia Man, 29, Killed In Atlantic City Expressway Crash
A 29-year-old Philadelphia man was killed in a crash on the Atlantic City Expressway on Saturday, March 11, authorities said. Scott Vilayseng was heading west when his Mercedes Benz veered off the road, went down an embankment and struck a fence and tree, then overturned — ejecting him around 8:50 a.m. in Hamilton Township, New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. Vilayseng was pronounced dead at the scene and the crash remains under investigation.

PA Man Sentenced For Strangling South Jersey Woman
A 42-year-old man from Pennsylvania has been sentenced to 55 years in New Jersey State Prison for strangling a woman whose naked body was found on the side of the road in 2014, authorities said. Timothy Wright, 42, of Chambersburg, PA, was sentenced Friday, Feb 17 in the murder of 25-year-old Joyce Vanderhoff, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Vanderhoff's naked body was dumped on the side of a Hamilton Township road in February 2014. UPDATE: The man who drove the getaway car -- actually a minivan -- in an armed robbery spree in New Jersey and Pennsylvania must spend the next 12 years in federal prison.
