Detoxing PA Inmate Dies 3 Days After Arrest: Authorities
A 60-year-old man going through a detox protocol died at the Allegheny County Jail on May 25, 2023, county officials say. The unnamed man was "brought in by a local police department on a bench warrant for retail theft for another county and booked on May 22," county officials explained in a release late on Thursday. A drug screen showed he had opiates, including fentanyl, cocaine, and other drugs in his system so the jail healthcare staff "initiated a detox protocol for him," the officials explained in the release. Officer Saves Life After Cardiac Event At PA Gym, Police Say
An off-duty police officer saved the life of a person who collapsed due to a cardiac event outside a gym in Ephrata, authorities announced on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department Officer Derek Oleszczuk was working out inside of the gym when he witnessed another patron collapse at Vitality Athletics 350 North Reading Road, according to the release. Off-duty police officers and a nurse rushed to the aid of an 8-year-old boy who lost consciousness after becoming entangled on a rope ladder at an indoor adventure park in King of Prussia Saturday, Feb. 25, NBC10 reports. A 2-year-old who fell into a private pond in Bethel Park on Saturday, Nov. 5, has died, according to multiple media reports. Emergency crews were called to a home on Tischler Road just after noon, Bethel Park police Chief Timothy O'Connor told WTAE. Celebrity physician Dr. Oz helped Port Authority police resuscitate a stricken traveler at Newark Airport, authorities said. The death of a 1-year-old Chester girl has been ruled a homicide, CBSN Philly reports. Local police were called to the 900 block of Pine Lane for a report of a 1-year-old in cardiac arrest, Fox29 reports. When police arrived on the scene, they found Li'Aziah Thomas' mother performing CPR on the girl, the news outlet reports.
