Schuylkill County Man Killed In Berks Crash: Pennsylvania State Police
A Pottsville man has died after a crash in Bethel Township on Tuesday, May 7, state police say. William J. Lecher, 56, was headed north on Route 183 when he lost control near the Appalachian Trail, troopers said in a release. Authorities said his Chevrolet Silverado entered the southbound lane before crossing onto the shoulder, striking a sign, and coming to rest on a grassy embankment. Fish Hooks Found In Dog Treats On Appalachian Trail In PA
The Pennsylvania Game Commission is warning pet owners after fish hooks were found stuffed in dog treats on the Appalachian Trail in Lehigh County. Authorities said a hiker discovered the treats near the North Trail Loop leading to the George W. Outerbridge shelter in Slatington over the weekend. "Items like these could prove deadly to any animal that consumes them, including wild and domesticated animals," the PGC said. Anyone with information or anyone who finds more tainted treats is asked to call 1-888-PGC-WILD or 1-888-PGC-HUNT.

Officials Name Hiker Found Dead On Appalachian Trail In PA
Authorities have identified the man found dead in Lehigh Township over the weekend. Raghu Kodali, 61, of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, was discovered in a wooded area near the Appalachian Trail, the Northampton County Coroner's Office said. His cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, officials added.

A Slate Belt man faces criminal charges for allegedly setting a brush fire in Northampton County on Tuesday, say authorities. Slate Belt Regional Police were called to a home on Batts Switch Road in Plainfield Township at 5:30 p.n. on April 11 for a requested welfare check, the department wrote in a release. Police ID Skeletal Remains In Lehigh Valley As 'Kunkletown Killer'
Police have identified the skeletal remains found by hunters in the Lehigh Valley as belonging to a convicted killer. Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said the bones were those of William S. Edelman, Jr., a 65-year-old who most recently lived in Catasauqua. The remains were located just before 4:30 p.m. Monday in a secluded portion of the Appalachian Trail in Moore Township, the coroner said. Stranded PA Hiker Hospitalized Following Appalachian Trail Rescue
A stranded Pennsylvania hiker was taken to a nearby hospital after being rescued on the Appalachian Trail, authorities said. The Delaware Water Gap Fire Department responded to the trail with several rescue squads and state police during the overnight hours on Thursday, July 28, the company said. The departments worked together to conduct a widespread search for the stranded hiker, who was found around 1:30 a.m. and taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Other assisting agencies include the National Park Service, Station 36, rescue teams 75-78, and Suburban EMS.

Search Continues For Missing Appalachian Trail Hiker John Dunnam
Police in Pennsylvania on Sunday were still looking for missing hiker John Dunnam. Dunnam, 57, was last seen Tuesday in a section of the Appalachian Trail, PA State Police say. Particularly, Dunnam was near Chimney Rocks between the Deer Lick Shelter and the Rocky Mountain shelters when he was last seen, authorities said. He was wearing a gray shirt, blue hiking pants, carrying a green backpack and two trekking poles, state police said. If seen, call 717-249-2121 or 911.
