A recall for a brand of vegetables and bagged salads has been expanded to 18 states due to possible Listeria contamination. Ohio-based Wiers Farm began its investigation in response to the Michigan Department of Agriculture's original findings, which led to the expansion. Products in the expanded recall were packed between Friday, July through Friday, July 12. Big Lots To Close Pair Of Pennsylvania Stores
Discount retail chain Big Lots plans to close around 40 stores this year, according to a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC). It currently has around 1,425 stores nationwide, 73 of which are located in Pennsylvania. 1 Sickened In Pennsylvania By Multi-State Deli Meat Listeria Outbreak: CDC
Two people died, and dozens of others sickened in a Listeria outbreak tied to deli meats in several states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Twenty-eight people across 12 states had been sickened between late May and mid-July, the CDC says. The deaths occurred in New Jersey and Illinois, health officials said. All 28 individuals had been hospitalized as of Friday, July 19. A 56-year-old convicted rapist from Pennsylvania is facing charges for reporting a fake address in order to comply with Meghan's Law, authorities said. David Pressler, a lifetime offender who was convicted of rape in May 1996, failed to provide a valid address to Pennsylvania State Police's Megan's Law Section, Camp Hill police said. Police were called to investigate the change of address on the 1800 block of Market Street on May 13, according to police.
