Unsettled Weather Pattern Arrives As Coastal Storm System Moves Through: Here's What To Expect An unsettled weather pattern has arrived in the region as a coastal storm system moves through the Northeast. The heaviest and steadiest rain from the system is in southeastern New England and eastern Long Island, where a general 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected, according to AccuWeather.com.  Skies will be mainly overcast Monday, Oct. 24 through Wednesday, Oct. 26 with spotty thunderstorms, patchy drizzle, scattered showers, and areas of dense fog at times, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature each day will be in the 60s. These Areas Will See Heaviest, Steadiest Rainfall, Strongest Winds From Coastal Storm System A coastal storm system will bring a mix of showers, rain, drenching downpours, and gusty winds to much of the region. Rainfall will begin Sunday afternoon, Oct. 23, and continue at times through the evening and into the overnight hours, according to the National Weather Service. Here's Time Frame For Coastal Storm That Will Bring Soaking Rain, Strong Winds To Region A powerful coastal storm system will bring drenching downpours and strong winds to much of the region. According to the National Weather Service, the system is on track to arrive during the day on Sunday, Oct. 23, and continue into Monday morning, Oct. 24.
