Flames Engulf Vehicle On I-83 As Snowstorm Looms: Newberry Township Firefighters Save The Day A vehicle burst into flames on Interstate 83 near the Exit 32 northbound ramp Sunday afternoon, Jan. 5, but swift action by Newberry Township firefighters brought the blaze under control. The Rescue and Tanker crews arrived on the scene and quickly doused the flames with a single hose line deployed from the Rescue truck, the fire department said. Chief Hillis coordinated the operation as 83 Command, ensuring the fire was extinguished before it could spread further. Car Slams Into York County Home: Fire Officials (Photos) A car plowed into a home in Etters early Thursday morning, Sept. 12, fire officials announced.  Firefighters were called to car into a home in the 2300 block of Old Trail Road at 12:36 a.m., according to the Newberry Township Fire Department and York County Department of Emergency Services.  The front end of the sedan was inside the home when firefighters arrived, as seen in photos they shared.  No injuries were reported.  The estimated cost of the damage was unavailable.

Man ID'd After Slamming Into Car Into York County Home (Update) A vehicle crash into a home has left a man dead, authorities confirmed on Wednesday. Michael Geesey, 30, 400 block of Hykes Mill Road in Manchester, crashed his 2005 Toyota Camry into the corner of a home in the 2800 block of Old Trail Road, at the intersection with Sheepbridge Road/Hill Drive, in Newberry Township, at 7:48 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities detailed.  He was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Molly York at 8:40 p.m. on Nov. 28, according to the coroner's release.
