Lackawanna County Man Is 2nd Victim Killed By Home Explosion: Coroner A second victim has died from injuries following a home explosion in Lackawanna County, authorities said. Leon W. Gruss, 91, of Jefferson Township, was pronounced dead on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 12:38 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio. The cause of death is 51% burns to the body due to the explosion and house fire, Buglio said. PA 911 Operator, Kaitlynn Beatty, 20, Killed In Crash: State Police A three-vehicle crash has left a 911 operator dead, authorities explained in the days following her sudden passing.  Kaitlynn Elizabeth Beatty, 20 of Irwin, was killed in a three-vehicle crash along Glades Pike/Route 31, west of Tree Army Road in Jefferson Township on Jan. 30, as detailed in the Pennsylvania State Police report.  Kaitlynn died at the scene, PSP Trooper Christopher Allen Explained. Pennsylvania HS Senior Wins National Taco Bell Scholarship For $25K A high school senior and Taco Bell employee in Cumberland County won the national Taco Bell scholarship contest, according to the company’s foundation’s website. Emma Seibert, of Enola works at the Taco Bell on Market Place Way and earlier this week she find out that she won the biggest scholarship her employer offers. Her $25,000 scholarship will help cover her tuition at John Hopkins University where she plans to study nursing.
