A volunteer fire police officer who was struck dead in the line of duty has been identified by the York County Coroner's office on Sunday, Aug. 18. Brian Peek, 67, of Wilson Court, in Goldsboro, Newberry Township died after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Red Mill and Corn Hill roads in Newberry Township at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, according to the coroner's release and FEMA. PA Ex-Con Who Raped Children Charged With 115 Felonies: Police
A 22-year-old former convict who is accused of raping children— among other child sex abuse offenses— has been charged with 115 felonies in York County, police say. Isaiah John Metz of North 16th Street in Harrisburg, was arrested following a police investigation in the first block of Winding Hill Drive in Goldsboro on Wednesday, March 30, according to a release by the Newberry Township police department. 'Pillar Of The Community' Mourned By Police In York County
A volunteer with the Newberry Township police has died. The passing of Carole Gosnell Canonico, 75, of Goldsboro, was announced by the NTPD on Monday. Canonico was described as a pillar of the community who "dedicated over 15 years to volunteering at NTPD and in that time assisted with clerical work, special events, holiday decorating and most importantly, her support of our officers." She died in her sleep last Wednesday night. She will be greatly missed by all of the staff at NTPD. Train Derailed, 30 Cars Overturned In York County
Over 30 train cars-- including one carrying oil-- were overturned in a train derailment on Monday afternoon in York County, according to Emergency Dispatch Services. Crews were called to the scene of the train derailment at 3:10 p.m. Hazmat crews were initially called to the scene to assess a crude oil train car but no leaks were found, according to police. Campers were in the area at the time of the derailment but we're not asked to evacuate and no one was in danger, according to both dispatch and police.
