A Maryland driver accused of hitting a 75-year-old woman and a dog with his car before fleeing the scene has turned himself in, Manheim Township Police announced on Thursday, Dec. 5. John Paul Michels, 39, surrendered to authorities following an October 21, 2024, incident on the 100 block of River Drive in Lancaster Township. Woman, Dog Found Dead At Back Door Of Home In Bucks County Fire: Police
An early morning fire Wednesday, Dec. 4 claimed the life of an adult woman and her dog in Bucks County, authorities said. Pennsylvania State Police Troop M responded to the blaze on the 1800 block of Mountain View Drive in Haycock Township around 4 a.m., State Police said. When troopers arrived, the residence was fully engulfed in flames. The woman and her dog were found deceased near the back door of the home, authorities said. A teenage hero and the woman he rescued from an Ephrata house fire are in the hospital, according to reports citing fire officials. The call to the fire in the 100 block of East Chestnut Street came into Lancaster County Wide Communications at 5:05 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, according to dispatch logs. A convicted felon who was wanted after escaping prison while on work release has been captured, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday, July 17.
