Azara F. Mapp, 23, of Maxatawny Township, was pronounced dead at 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office on Monday, March 10. An autopsy was completed, but her cause and manner of death remain under investigation.

Mapp’s family and friends say her death was preventable. According to a GoFundMe campaign set up in her memory, she suffered a life-threatening asthma attack and did not receive emergency care in time.

“Despite multiple urgent calls for help, delays in emergency response prevented her from receiving the immediate care she desperately needed,” the fundraiser reads.

The GoFundMe, organized by Amiah Burgess, aims to cover funeral costs and advocate for improved emergency services in Kutztown.

Mapp, described as a beloved daughter, sister, girlfriend, aunt, and friend, had dreams of building a future with her boyfriend, Tristan Yoder. He had planned to propose next month.

“Azara dreamed of a future filled with love and laughter... She hoped to one day marry her boyfriend Tristan, build a family, and create a home as joyful as the ones she crafted in her favorite game, The Sims,” the fundraiser states.

Family members shared their grief on social media, with her sister writing, “You were such a bright soul and had the most touching laugh… You are not lost. You live on in the hearts of everyone you touched.”

Another post described a poignant tribute, as Yoder symbolically proposed to her spirit under a weeping willow—her dream wedding setting.

A memorial service is being planned. Those wishing to support the family can donate to the GoFundMe here.
