A 47-year-old man is in the hospital after a hit-and-run in Lancaster County early Wednesday morning, Oct. 16, police announced. Columbia Borough Police officers were called to a report of a person struck at Columbia Plaza in the 910-970 block of Lancaster Avenue at 12:19 a.m., according to the release and Google Maps Street View. Officers arrived to find the victim, "who was struck by a passing car [had] suffered undetermined minor to moderate injury and was transported to the hospital by ambulance," as written in the release. Tractor-Trailer Rollover Crash Causes Delays On I-81: PennDOT
A tractor-trailer rolled over on Interstate 81 on-ramp in Cumberland County on Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, according to officials. Only the trailer flipped at the on-ramp from Exit 52 — Route 11/New Kingston/Middlesex, from Route 11 to I-81 South, according to PennDOT's 511PA traffic cameras. First responders were called to the crash around 9:20 a.m., according to 511PA. There is no word of any injuries as of 10:30 a.m. PennDOT and the county are urging travelers to avoid the area. A trucker was medically evacuated by a helicopter to an area hospital following a serious crash into a Littlestown laundromat early on Thursday morning, Sept. 12, authorities explained. The driver is thought to possibly have had a medical issue before he lost control of the vehicle, exiting the road, hitting a parked vehicle, causing the tractor-trailer to rollover and slam through the Littlestown Laundry Center, authorities said. PSP Investigated 580 Crashes, Wrote 24,865 Tickets Over Labor Day Weekend
Pennsylvania State Police investigated 580 crashes over the four-day Labor Day weekend. From Friday, Aug. 30 to Monday, Sept. 2, those crashes resulted in 170 injuries and six deaths. Those totals were lower than the 671 crashes last Labor Day that resulted in 220 injuries and 10 deaths. Impaired driving was a factor in 65 of this year's crashes, three of which were fatal. The man who became entrapped in his vehicle died at the scene of the crash has been identified, the Lancaster County Coroner's office announced on Thursday, Aug. 15. Brian Lewis, 52, of the 1600 block of Slate Hill Road Drumore Township, died at the scene of a crash in the 1300 block of Slate Hill Road near the intersection of Tanning Yard Hollow Road in Drumore Township, Pennsylvania State Police Troop J announced. Two tractor-trailers collided on Interstate 81 sending one person to the hospital, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler told Daily Voice.
