Edward Tomcics, 75, Killed in Whitehall Township Car Crash
A 75-year-old pedestrian, Edward D. Tomcics, was struck and killed by a motor vehicle on Christmas Day in Whitehall Township, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:54 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, in the 3200 block of Water Street, officials said. Tomcics was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, where he was pronounced dead at 7:32 p.m.
An autopsy performed by the coroner revealed that Tomcics died from blunt force injuries sustained in the collision. His death has been ruled an accident.

A 58-year-old woman was killed in a crash in Upper Milford Township over the weekend, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office announced on Monday, Nov. 25, 2024.
Jane E. Zamichieli, of Upper Saucon Township, died at 10:39 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, according to the release.
Zamichieli suffered multiple blunt force injuries when her vehicle left the roadway, went down an embankment, and ejected her, the coroner said. The crash occurred around 8:23 p.m. in Upper Milford Township, authorities reported.

Rowland Matthews Dead After Crashing Into Pole: Lehigh County Coroner
A 43-year-old man has died days after a crash with a utility pole in the Poconos, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.
Rowland Matthews, of Dreher Township, Wayne County, struck a utility pole on Route 191 about one mile south of Pocono Plateau Road in Cresco, Monroe County, the coroner's office said.
The crash happened at 3:44 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, according to the coroner's office.
