Girl Scout Dues Hit Historic High: PA Council Says
Membership fees or dues to join Girl Scouts have risen to a historic high, Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania announced on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The decision to raise the dues is not just local, but came as a result of "12 hours of thoughtful deliberation, the national delegates of Girl Scouts, representing councils across the country, including representatives from Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania," GSHPA wrote. Foster Homes Needed For 30 Animals Seized From Berks County Home
Rescue officials are desperate for help after 30 animals were seized from a home in Berks County. The Department of Animal Protection from the Animal Rescue League of Berks County was performing a wellness check when they removed 22 dogs, three cats, five snakes, and two geckos were removed from a home in Womelsdorf on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Vince Mazzotta, 62, Lifetime Darby Fire Company Member Dies
A Pennsylvania fire department is mourning the loss of one of their own. Vincent "Vince" John Mazzotta, a life member of the Darby Fire Co., died on Sunday, July 28. He was 62 years old. The volunteer fireman, of Newtown Square, graduated from the Monsignor Bonner High School (Class of 1980) and King’s College in Wilkes-Barre (Class of 1984), his obituary on the Danjolell Memorial Home website says. East Berlin Church Volunteer Killed In Head-On Crash Going Home
A 33-year-old was struck dead in a head-on crash "on his way home from volunteering at church," Freedom Valley Church officials wrote in a Facebook post. Eric Sterner of East Berlin died in the back of an Adams County UPMC Ambulance at the scene of a crash on West King Street in East Berlin Borough on Saturday, June 1, Pennsylvania State Police in Gettysburg detailed in a release the following Monday. A 26-year-old Red Lion woman has pleaded guilty in connection to striking dead a 16-year-old girl getting on a school bus, according to updated court documents filed on May 29, 2024.
