A trucker was medically evacuated by a helicopter to an area hospital following a serious crash into a Littlestown laundromat early on Thursday morning, Sept. 12, authorities explained. The driver is thought to possibly have had a medical issue before he lost control of the vehicle, exiting the road, hitting a parked vehicle, causing the tractor-trailer to rollover and slam through the Littlestown Laundry Center, authorities said. PSP Investigated 580 Crashes, Wrote 24,865 Tickets Over Labor Day Weekend
Pennsylvania State Police investigated 580 crashes over the four-day Labor Day weekend. From Friday, Aug. 30 to Monday, Sept. 2, those crashes resulted in 170 injuries and six deaths. Those totals were lower than the 671 crashes last Labor Day that resulted in 220 injuries and 10 deaths. Impaired driving was a factor in 65 of this year's crashes, three of which were fatal. Driver Killed Fiery Crash ID'd By Lancaster County Coroner
The man who became entrapped in his vehicle died at the scene of the crash has been identified, the Lancaster County Coroner's office announced on Thursday, Aug. 15. Brian Lewis, 52, of the 1600 block of Slate Hill Road Drumore Township, died at the scene of a crash in the 1300 block of Slate Hill Road near the intersection of Tanning Yard Hollow Road in Drumore Township, Pennsylvania State Police Troop J announced. Two tractor-trailers collided on Interstate 81 sending one person to the hospital, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler told Daily Voice. The crash happened on I-81 South at mile marker 93 in Swatara Township shortly after 4 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, as detailed by Schreffler.
