Driver Plunges Into Schuylkill River In Philly A car drove into the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, authorities said. At about 3:40 a.m., an unusual incident occurred at 1273 Kelly Drive in the 22nd District. Police and fire department personnel responded to a 911 call reporting that a black four-door sedan had been seen driving into the river. The vehicle was located; however, at press time no driver or passenger had been located, police said. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Pennridge A pedestrian was struck and killed in front of the White Horse Inn in Pennridge last week, authorities said on Tuesday, Aug. 13. On Friday, Aug. 9, Pennridge Regional police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ridge Road and Old Bethlehem Pike. When officers arrived, they found a white Toyota Camry had struck a pedestrian as the man was crossing Ridge Road.  The pedestrian was identified as Peter Gehring, of Sellersville. Pedestrian Hit, Killed Standing On Philly Street Corner: Police An unidentified man has died after he was struck by a car in Philadelphia on Wednesday night, July 17, authorities said.  The man, believed to have been in his 50s, was standing on the corner of  Frankford and East Allegheny avenues when he was hit by a Toyota around 7 p.m., city police said.  He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to PPD.
